Don’t be Tardi for the Mardi

A year ago I experienced my first New Orleans Mardi Gras. I had visited the incredible city many times before, but being that I fear crowds and drunken strangers, never for that specific weekend. Since I was a recent graduate at the time and deeply worried that my days of fun were behind me, I was easily convinced to go on a last minute, casual nine hour road trip to New Orleans.

I’m a natural worrier, so the fact that the highly developed plan was to sleep on a strangers floor by Tulane, absolutely plagued me. Not surprisingly, keys were lost, cell phones died, friends separated, I spent 48 hours wearing a “Huge Ass Beers” T-shirt, and slept in a car.

So while I’m glad to have had the opportunity to visit New Orleans during Mardi Gras, I can easily say, never, ever, again.  This year I plan to host my own civilized Mardi Gras party, complete with beds and showers. Join me in celebrating all things Mardi Gras- enjoy!
